Stunning… truly a transport of delight

Alfred Hickling, The Guardian

Can you help Parallel Lives?

New stories

We’re currently expanding Parallel Lives to include the places where The Transports will perform during January 2018. We’re particularly seeking stories about people from a migrant or refugee background who have come to live in these towns or cities:

Berwick, Bromsgrove, Bury St Edmunds, Cheltenham, Chesterfield, Durham, Guildford, Leeds, London, Manchester, Norwich, Preston, Southampton, Yeovil.

We appreciate many people do not wish to talk about their experiences, but some do, and we’d be delighted to feature their story if they wish. It’s handy if the story has already been published – we’re keen to publicise all the important work that’s being done in this area. If the story’s new, just send it to us briefly – with a photo if that’s possible.

New places

We’re creating a new website for Parallel Lives, with an interactive map for including stories from as many places in Britain as we can. So do send us stories, even if The Transports won’t be visiting there to perform.

Educational resource pack

Soon we hope to have special packs for schools in towns where we perform (plus a general resource for schools everywhere). Aimed at Citizenship and History curriculum needs for KS2, KS3 and KS4, these will include local stories and encourage students to consider how migration has shaped their community. Do get in touch if this interests you.
